Sisk HQ sets a benchmark for energy‑efficient workplaces, in partnership with Daikin

Daikin Ireland’s cutting‑edge VRV 5 climate control system is at the heart of the recently retrofitted headquarters of John Sisk & Son in Citywest Business Campus, delivering exceptional energy efficiency, comfort and sustainability credentials for Ireland’s leading building contractor.
Sisk’s decision to retrofit an existing building – rather than construct a new one – was a deliberate showcase of its sustainability ethos. The transformation, carried out by over 150 Sisk staff and supply chain partners, boosted the building’s BER from D2 to A3, with Daikin’s VRV 5 system playing a pivotal role in achieving that leap.
Tom Grant, Director of Assets and Internal Services, Sisk, commented, “The heating and cooling of the building was a very important consideration in terms of offering a more comfortable working environment for staff and clients alike. From a sustainability point of view, the Daikin VRV was a good solution for us.”
Specified by design consultants Axiseng, the VRV 5 was chosen for its low‑carbon, high‑efficiency performance and flexibility. “One of the main considerations was the need for a solution that would help us achieve an A rating,” explained Richard Vaughan, Senior Associate at Axiseng. “We also needed a heat recovery solution for one of the spaces in the building and the VRV 5 offers that flexibility.”
Daikin Ireland’s DX Manager Liam Kirwan highlighted the system’s environmental advantages: “By moving to R‑32 refrigerant, we’re reducing CO2 levels and enhancing the building’s energy performance, all while providing a comfortable environment for staff. The VRV 5 is the gold standard of the air‑conditioning industry.”
Installation was carried out by trusted Daikin partner Kelly RAC, whose Technical Sales Manager Gavin O’Reilly praised the system’s adaptability: “With this building, you have all different orientations – south‑facing spaces needing cooling and north‑facing offices needing heating – and the VRV 5 can run both simultaneously on the same system.”
For the 200‑plus occupants of Sisk’s HQ, the result is a comfortable, future‑proofed workplace that reflects the company’s brand and values. Tom Grant concluded, “It’s important to have a headquarters that really demonstrates the brand and shows the industry what we can deliver. It meets all our needs.”
